Church Resource Request Form

Dear Pastor

I would like to introduce or re-introduce myself to you and the ministry of The Birth Connection.  My name is Lois Baxter and I am the director of this ministry offering women in unplanned pregnancy a safe place to come and explore the life choices of parenting and adoption when they are faced with the responsibility of planning a future for their unplanned, unborn baby.  Our desire is to offer the care and resourses that will not only encourage each woman to continue her pregnancy, but to take the time and make a plan for herself and her child’s future.  In doing so, we are striving to show Christ’s love, forgiveness and Salvation by both our actions and our words.  Not only do we desire for each woman to choose life for her unborn child, but we also desire to make a difference in the eternity of each woman by sharing Christ and the life and plans He has for her.

In the past few months, the state of our country seems to be moving more rapidly than ever away from the Christian values that give any respect or value to the lives of the unborn.  It has been a struggle for more than 35 years now, but has been accelerated since the inauguration of our new president to a level that goes beyond anything that could even remotely be recognized as the reasons Roe vs Wade was allowed in the first place.

When Roe vs Wade was passed into law, the argument and reason for it was to allow women the choice of abortion when faced with a pregnancy because of three reasons.

        1.  When pregnancy occurs as the result of rape or incest
        2.  When pregnancy will put the life of the mother at risk
        3.  When the unborn child is known to have catastrophic birth defects that would give no quality of life to that child.

Today, less than 2% of abortions are done for any of these 3 reasons.  98% plus abortions are done as a method of birth control, wrong timing, gender preference, or failed birth control.  Even in it’s intended form, the legalizing of abortion was in direct conflict with scripture and the church has always stood behind the belief that all life is sacred and that God, as our Creator is the giver of life.  Of course, in the rare instances that a choice must be made to save a life, we support the choice that a husband and wife or a family must make.  In almost all of these instances, the loss of one life (the unborn) would happen anyhow and so we are really choosing to save a life by medical intervention.

Over the past 20+ years that I have been ministering to women at The Birth Connection, I have seen a de-sensitizing of the Christian community toward many things that ultimately lead us to compromise the values that God’s Words calls us to uphold.  Some of these compromises have been in the areas of marriage, family, divorce, pre-marital sex, abortion, and homosexuality.  What we as the church need to understand is that the slope is slippery and one compromise begets another.  When I speak in churches, it is always amazing to me that usually at least one person shares their story with me afterward about their abortion.  Often, they are regular attenders, members and they did not know that the churches stand was against abortion.  They did not know that God’s Word spoke against the very things that I listed above.  So often in our efforts to make our people feel good, these sensitive topics are avoided and that means the only thing being heard is the worlds view.  One thing is sure, the world is aggressively sharing their “gospel of darkness” and making it appealing, responsible, acceptable, and essential to the future of our country.  Now, the church is very much at risk of being silenced by laws that take away the right to share what God’s Word says on these matters and still keep our tax exempt status.  When it gets down to it, our response will tell our congregations, and the world, just who it is we serve.  “No-one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.” Matthew 6:24 (NIV)

As the pastor, you have an opportunity every day to share Christ with those in your congregation and the community around your church.  When faced with some of the above mentioned crisis, I would ask that you consider using the resources that our church has available.  Our prayer and desire is to meet the needs of people, that is our sole reason for being.  God has called us to be His hands and feet in areas of ministry that allow us to come along side of the local churches and offer Christ-centered care in areas of special need.  What we need from you is that opportunity to assist you as these needs present themselves and for your prayers and financial support to help us continue the work that God has called us to do.

Please take a minute to fill out the Church Information Form below.  I look forward to the opportunity to share with you and your congregation in the near future.  May the Lord richly bless you as you serve Him, and His people.
